Biography
Dr. Fiore holds a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor in Philosophy and a Research Scientist at the Institute of Simulation and Training. He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh (2000) working primarily in the Learning Research and Development Center. He has been Director of the Consortium for Research in Adaptive Distributed Learning Environments at the Institute for Simulation and Training since 2002 and affiliated with UCF’s Team Performance Laboratory since 1998. He maintains a multidisciplinary research interest that incorporates aspects of cognitive, social, and organizational psychology in the investigation of learning and performance in individuals and teams. He is co-editor of a recent volume on Team Cognition and has published in the area of learning, memory, and problem solving at the individual and group level. Through numerous collaborative efforts, Dr. Fiore has helped to manage nearly $4 million in research funding from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the Transportation Security Administration, the Office of Naval Research, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Dr. Fiore's research specialization and his teaching competencies serve the needs of both the Department of Philosophy and the Institute for Simulation and Training by broadening the capability of UCF to teach and train interdisciplinary studies in the Cognitive Sciences.
