The Philosophical Society at UCF presents

Valentine's Week Talk
"Kierkegaard and the Philosophy of Love"
Michael Strawser, Ph.D.

Michael Strawser will speak about his recent book Kierkegaard and the Philosophy of Love (2015). In this work Strawser argues that Kierkegaard’s writings on love are most fruitfully understood within the context of a phenomenology of love, and that Kierkegaard presents readers with a first phenomenology of love, a point of view that serves as a unifying perspective throughout this work.

Strawser is Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the UCF. He has also published Asking Good Questions: Case Studies in Ethics and Critical Thinking (with Nancy Stanlick, Hackett, 2015), Both/And: Reading Kierkegaard from Irony to Edification (Fordham UP, 1997), and has a forthcoming co-edited book Kierkegaard’s God and the Good Life (co-edited, Indiana UP, forthcoming).

V-Day week is a special events week hosted by the Philosophical Society at UCF. V-Day week is an exploration into the philosophy of love and how it is currently reflected in society.
