Construction Photos
UCF has completed the design stages and is moving into the construction phase of a premier performing arts center that will provide a full range of educational and performance capabilities to the Music and Theatre Programs. The Arts Complex II will provide Music and Theatre with exciting new teaching and learning facilities to house musical and theatrical performances. The design of this building has incorporated the work of top theatre architects and consultants such as HKS Architects, Duda/Paine Architects (design consultants), Theatre Projects Consultants (theatre planning and design consultants), and Kirkegaard Associates (acoustic design).
Phase I is comprised of the academic spaces for both departments, and Phase II will incorporated the performance spaces. Phase One is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2010.
Phase One – Features:
- Academic Space (Phase 1) - 75,000 Square Feet
- Performance Space (Phase 2) - 150,000 Square Feet
- 3 general classrooms, with multiple teaching studios
- Multiple and various sized rehearsal rooms for voice, acting, etc.
- Keyboard Studio, Chamber Music Room, Music Education Resource Room
- Electro-Accoustic music lab, Percussion Ensemble rooms, and Recording studio (not equipped)
- 3 Acting/Dance Studios, 3 Acting Scene Rooms, Multiple Teaching Studios and Voice rooms
- Light Lab, 2 Design Classrooms, and Theatre Computer Lab
- All music and theatre faculty together in single structure
Phase One – Schedule:
- April 2009 - Completed Construction Drawings
- May 2009 - Break Ground on Site
- May 2009 - Begin Construction
- August 2010 - Complete Structure
- August/September 2010 - Certificate of Occupancy
Phase Two – Features:
- 600 Seat Concert Hall
- 263 Seat Recital/Lecture Hall
- Instrument/Orchestration Rehearsal Hall, Choral Rehearsal Hall, Greenrooms and support
- 520 Seat Proscenium Theatre
- 225 Seat Black Box Theatre
- Costume Shops, Scene Shops, Prop shops, welding areas, and other technical support spaces
Parking Lot Closures:
Effective May 9, 2009 parking lots H-1, H-2, H-3, and H-4 will be closed for the construction. Parking lots H-1 and H-2 are scheduled to reopen on June 19, 2009. Lot H-3 will remain closed until August 23, 2010. Lot H-4 is scheduled to reopen partially on June 19, 2009, (north of fence) and the remainder of the lot (south of fence) is scheduled to open August 23, 2010.
